Personally I like OGS since I don't know anyone who plays Go, but pretty much anything goes.
Long story short, there's no chat history. Right now we're bootstrapping into an actual group so communication is over IRC, which trades modern niceties like chat history for simplicity of hosting and incentive to move to something else. If no one's talking, they might start if you say something. (The idea is once the next semester starts there will be enough people interested to choose something more permanent instead of giving me full decision power.)
